All A Load Of Bullocks...

Scotland's Friday night foot and mouth scare seems to be a false alarm with initial laboratory tests for the disease coming back negative

... and bullocks to it all. Ahem, which is just a quick note to let you know that a short-lived foot and mouth scare that broke late on Friday afternoon in Scotland was just that, a scare.

A seven-month old steer from a farm near Aberdeen was found to be suffering from mouth lesions and a five-mile exclusion zone was introduced, while samples of steer were sent to labs at Pirbright, Surrey for testing.

Preliminary results have proved negative and reportedly show that the steer is actually suffering from bovine viral diarrhoea (BVD), which is a common illness amongst cattle. Further testing will take place with final results due to be released on Tuesday. So far however, there hasn't been a case where an initial negative has been replaced by a positive, so thankfully it seems like another false alarm.
