Alpkit coLAB Awards Are Go!

Six weeks left to unleash your astonishing outdoor designs on the waiting world...

A quick reminder just arrived from the guys over at Alpkit, that this year's coLAB Award is well and truly up and running with just six weeks left for you to get your brilliant ideas written up and sent in before the end of November 2008.

If you're asking coWHAT, you can find a full explanation on the Alpkit web site, but it's the company's way of encouraging innovation in outdoor product design by giving you a stage to display and share your ideas. Stage one is to submit your idea to coLAB before 1 December 2008. You can use the coLAB forums for inspiration and to get feedback from other coLABbers - colabbers? cobblers? - to help you develop your ideas, make some prototypes or whatever.

Stage two involves a panel of outdoor experts meeting up and assessing the entries in detail before choosing a shortlist of nine. The panel will put an emphasis on whether you're solving a real problem and how well you've done it.

Finally, for stage three, the nine short-listed entrants - as they did last year - get to present their ideas to the public at the OS Outdoors Show in Birmingham from 27-29 March, 2009, where show-goers will vote for their favourite idea. The winner gets a cool trophy and the top three all win Alpkit kit as well.

So if you've got a brilliant idea burning a hole in your cranium, here's your chance to make it real. For full details, get yourself over to www.alpkit.com/colab/award/

Hi Everyone

As last years winner just wanted to put a quick note in for anyone thinking about doing it.

Very simply - Do it!

Getting into the final at the outdoors show is a massive opportunity and if maximised can give you alot of insight into your product from the consumers perspective.

It will also - if the idea is good - generate interest from possible business partners, I was passed several Business cards from some major players in the outdoor markets and several small business offering to market / distribute "Beacon Bag".

It's worth all the time and effort you put in.
