A quick heads up for Midlands-based OMers looking for a bargain - Alpkit is holding its second ever yard sale at its lavish Ilkeston base this Saturday 25 October.

The boys are selling off a load of stuff that needs clearing out before their imminent stock take with a selection of random bargains including seconds, samples, discontinued products and new products with minor missing bits like a stuff sac or a buckle.

There's a rough list of what's available at the Alpkit web site, but it includes down jackets and sleeping bags, old-style Gourdon dry bags, the odd Airic, some trekking poles and so on.

Doors open at 8 am prompt, coffee will be served, and it's strictly first come, first served and they'll be shutting up shop once everything's been sold or no-one wants what's left... It's ideal for bargain-hunting locals, but bear in mind that Ilkestone's just five minutes away from the M1 which rather conveniently points straight at the Peak District.

Full details at www.alpkit.com where the web savvy will also find the address, which is:

Alpkit Global Distribution Centre
Unit B1, The Ropewalk Ind Est
Ilkeston, DE7 5HX

See article above, but basically the guys at Alpkit are having a clear-out at their Ilkestone base with a yard sale. Doors open at 8 am and it's first come, first served.

Glad you explained that, as first off I just thought they'd been taken over by the Yardies! Nasty vicious Jamaican internationally organised gangland folks them, the Yardies!Alpkit, by comparison, they're very nice indeed though for sure!
