£1 Million Lake District Path Boost

A Lottery Heritage Fund Grant of £1 million is to be spent on restoring seriously eroded paths in the Lake District

It's a good month for tired and eroded feeling footpaths in the Lakes, a £1 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund is going to be used to repair and restore around 125 miles of path in the area.

It follows on from last month's news that the 'Friends of the Lake District' organisation has donated £50,000 to be spent on repairing seriously damaged paths on Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Buttermere and High Street as part of the Upland Path Landscape Restoration Project.

Good news, but dwarfed by the many millions being spent by the government on extending the road network...

More details when we can find some.
