A quick note for Sky-viewers: the first TV coverage of the army expedition to the West Ridge of Everest is coming to a screen near you on Monday. The programme: 'Everest: Man v Mountain'. The channel: Bravo. The time: 12.30pm or 9pm.
The West Ridge expedition was in the full eye of the media earlier this year and its award-winning website www.armyoneverest.mod.uk kept followers updated with images, video clips, and interviews. We haven't seen any of the TV coverage yet, but it's all been professionally filmed by members of Sky and Bravo, along with a few short clips from the team themselves. If you have any doubts, take a peep at the video excerpts on the Bravo website.
It's not just this coming Monday evening you need to keep free - there's a five episode haul on the way. (We caught up with a member of the expedition a couple of months back and he told us the planned sixth episode had to be axed when the summit attempt was abandoned:-(. Those photogenic shots at the top of the world, that never quite happened, were set to be the grand finale, but unfortunately the mountain had other ideas). Still, five episodes of Everest footage isn't bad going ...
