Artificial Beach And Hotel For Llanberis Quarries!
The beach and hotel are just part of a planned artificial mega-snow dome development in the quarries above the quiet Snowdonian climbing town, has the world gone nuts?

'Skiiers and snowboarders skiing downhill indefinitely on a
50-metre wide slope that would rotate uphill, a conventional
870-metre slope, a bobsled run, an "indoor tropical beach" and a
400-bedroom hotel.' And where better to put it than in the Llanberis
slate quarries?
Really, according to the good old FT, a planning application has
been submitted to Gwynedd council to build a 150-metre, 55-metre high
artificial snow dome in the disused quarries overlooking the
hard-nosed Snowdonian mountain town.

The scheme is a brainchild of an Australian company Ski
Trac which, with typically antipodean cultural sensitivity, is
already in the process of building projects in Sydney, South Korea
and seven other locations.
I mean, who needs some of the best slate climbing in the world
when you can have an indoor tropical beach and a 400-bedroom hotel?
Rumours that Pete's Eats is about to introduce a cocktail menu are,
we understand, entirely believable...
