Avalanche Risk In Lakes

Borrowdale incident underlines continued risk from unstable snowpack in the region.

The BBC is reporting that another climber has been avalanched in the Lake District underlining the ongoing risk of an unstable snow pack.

The climber was apparently on a route called Window Gully in Borrowdale when he was hit by a snow slide. According to the BBC, he was unhurt and led to safety by rescuers.

The latest Weatherline report from Helevellyn comments that there is 'a significant avalanche risk in the region'. There is apparently unstable windslab on north-east to south-east facing slopes and significant cornices along summit ridges which are heavily loaded.
