Here's one we missed, so it's already underway - the first ever
Aviemore Walking Festival is taking place between the 11th and 17th
of May.
Nicely timed to avoid the midgies, and to quote the festival web
site:
'This is a time of year when the area usually enjoys extremely
good, sunny weather and the rivers run fast and clear with the snow
melt off the mountains. It is also a time when the trees and shrubs
show off their summer finery in a bold display of vivid greens while
the abundant wildlife is hectic (and often noisy) with its annual
rituals of housekeeping and preparing for a season of rearing and
feeding its young.'
There are daily guided walks plus a selection of other
entertainments including an exhibition and a final Saturday night
Grand Highland Ceilidh with music, song and dance.
Full full details, check out the Aviemore
Walking Festival web site.
