Congratulations to Scottish internet start-up Walkhighlands.co.uk
which has bagged both the Tourism
Award and the trophy for the Overall Winner at
the Herald Digital Business Awards.
The site was started back in 2007 by Paul and Helen Webster, who are
based on Skye and is an excellent resource for anyone walking in
Scotland complete with downloadable routes to be used with GPS units
and mapping software and handy podcases of hard-to-pronounce Scottish
hill names saving you from embarassment in the Clachaig Inn...
The site landed the award for 'being able to demonstrate how digital
technologies have been employed to attract visitors to Scotland, and to
enhance their experience when they get there', though Helen Webster
says they weren't expecting to win. Hubby, Paul, commented:
"To win the overall award for all sectors as well is completely
unexpected - and a real honour."
