Bank Holiday Weekend Weather 1-4 June 2002

This is our regular Friday round-up of what's in store for the weekend. Note that the excellent Online Weather mountain weather forecast is being re-vamped and will be unavailable until July - see this update - as a result the clickable links on the map below are temporarily unavailable.

• The Met Office opts for a stonking Saturday with warm sunshine pretty much everywhere south of the border, things getting less settled on Sunday with clouds and outbreaks of rain north of the Scottish border.

• The BBC Weather site uses Met Office data, but is generally easier to use. Their five-day forecast is region specific, but generally suggests a nice Saturday followed by a cloudier Sunday with showers, a wet Monday, then improving again on Tuesday. You need to check individual areas though, Keswick, for example, is forecast to be damp and cloudy all the way through till Tuesday when things are set to improve and Fort William looks set for rain all the way through, except Saturday when it should be merely cloudy.

Saturday's general forecast from Online Weather is less optimistic, but mainly dry with some sunny spells everywhere Sunday 'chance of showers' everywhere. Monday getting cooler with showers in various places. Hmmm...

BBC Pollen Forecast It's been a bad spring for hayfever sufferers, and better weather looks like making things worse. Still low in Scotland - cos the weather's dire - but rising over the weekend elsewhere.

Nice weather for Saturday
Looks showery the rest of the time and cooling on Monday

Verdict South of the border, Saturday looks like being an excellent day, but the rest of the weekend is shaping up to be showery. Still nothing seriously bad and hey, it's a bank holiday after all - enjoy.
