Basecamp, the new Mountain Rescue Supporters' Group
now has its own basic webpage where you can download a membership
form and find out a little more information.
We told you about Basecamp
a few weeks back, but briefly the idea is that you pay an annual
membership fee which goes to benefit local MRTs across England and
Wales rather than to a specific MRT.
So as, say, a London-based walker or climber, you can now support
teams in all the areas you might visit. Equally friends and parents
can support mountain rescue in the same way as they might support,
say, the RNLI.
In return for membership, you also get quarterly copies of MR
Magazine together with an enamel supporter's badge and a car sticker
to promote your involvement. You will also be notified of events run
by nearby teams, and given the opportunity to get involved.
Hopefully at some point online membership will be available, but
for now take a look at www.mountain.rescue.org.uk/basecamp
for more details.
