Just in case you missed all the furore - and I did, I was in Spain
- Bono has apparently asked David Beckham to climb Africa's highest
mountain, Kilimanjaro, to raise money for children's charity
Unicef.
The story surfaced in the super, soar away Sun on Monday where it
was claimed that Becks is 'absolutely set' on making the climb after
he was approached by the U2 frontman.
Apparently the millionaire footy superstar was a little dubious at
first, but was talked round by Bono who will also be tackling the
mountain, although no date has been set yet.

goal?

Kilimanjaro should be well within Beckham's abilities, he's a
professional athelete after all, and he won't be needing the slings,
ropes and ice axe photoshopped onto him by The Sun either, as the
mountain while high at just under 20,000 feet, is really just a high
altitude walk.
In fact altitude is likely to be the biggest hurdle Becks faces
and the one most likely to make him as sick as a parrot. Most
itineraries on the mountain are truncated to reduce the cost of the
daily peak permits and barely allow adequate acclimatisation time. As
a result, altitude sickness is common on the mountain.
