Good to see the guys from Berghaus
doing their bit for outdoors conservation with a team from the North
East-based gear specialists helping the John Muir Trust in
its work conserving the Scottish Highlands.
Some 13 staff from Berghaus gave up two days of their time to volunteer
for the Trust which was formed in 1983 and exists to protect and
conserve wild places in the Highlands and the Islands of Scotland, as
well as to increase awareness and understanding of the value of such
places.
The team trekked in for 45 minutes each morning carrying the necessary
tools before spending day one removing 700 metres of redundant fencing
in Glen Nevis, followed up by working through a thunderstorm on day two
to re-make some paths using stone from a dry river bed.
Sandy Maxwell of the John Muir Trust joined the team to show them how
it is all done, and shared his expert knowledge on the local area,
plants and wildlife. “I was very impressed by the hard work and
enthusiasm of the Berghaus Team. We are delighted with the continued
support from Berghaus of the Trust’s conservation work,“ commented
Sandy.
Good to see the Berghaus guys putting something back into the outdoors.
It's an annual project and a very worthy cause.
