Berghaus's new flagship
store in Covent Garden is open for business right now
following a dramatic christening ceremony by Chris Bonington and Leo
Houlding who curiously opted to toast the event in coffee from a Thermos on a first floor portaledge.
Can you get a ticket for parking a portaledge above a double-yellow
line?
The shop at 13 Shorts Gardens, Seven Dials, Covent Garden - a
traditional mecca for outdoor retailers - is the first in London to
stock the full range of Berghaus outdoor performance products and is
part of Sir Chris's campaign to bring the outdoors to poor, benighted
capital dwellers, or something like that.
“The new store is a bold and exciting move for the company,'
he says. 'And a very important step in our development into a leading
global brand. However, first and foremost, this new store
brings the full Berghaus range to London for the first time, which is
great news for the huge number of outdoor enthusiasts who live in the
capital.”
So there you. We figure Chris and Leo are well gone by now, but the
store remains, so if you're in London and want a comprehensive array of
Berghaus clothing, equipment and footwear, you know where to go.
