Berghaus Wins Ad Award

Berghaus's latest ad campaign has won reader awards from not one, but two, outdoor magazines. But who exactly is that bloke sitting next to Sir Chris Bonington?

Berghaus has won two awards for the new 'Trust Is Earned' advertising campaign.

The readers of both Country Walking and Trail voted the first execution in the series - featuring veteran mountaineers Chris Bonington and Doug Scott - as Best Advert in their recent reader awards.

More cynical readers - viz, OUTDOORSmagic staff - have noted that Doug Scott, in this particular photo bears an uncanny resemblance to madcap comedian Spike Milligan, although Scott is undoubtedly a better climber than the ex-Goon.

Berghaus, at any rate, are very chuffed and, according to Marketing Director Lewis Grundy will be releasing a series of futher adverts featuring other Goon lookalikes such as Harry Secombe and Prince Charles. Just joking.

In reality, Lewis commented: 'We are delighted that this new advertising campaign has received such early recognition. Trust Is Earned is a very powerful message when combined with the type of images we have used in the advertisements and it has clearly struck a positive chord with our target consumers. The campaign has only really just kicked off and I am sure that the later executions we have up our sleeves will have the same kind of impact.'

We still reckon Doug Scott looks like Spike mind...
