Best Of Banff 2010 Hits UK

The Banff Mountain Festival World Tour is coming to the UK over January and February 2010 with films from the prestigious Canadian event being shown at nine venues across the UK for the first time.


Banff has been going since 1976 and has a fantastic reputation as a showcase for inspirational film ranging from 'adrenaline-packed action sports to exploration of remote landscapes and cultures' - everything from snow porn through to thoughtful environmental documentary with a big helping of climbing and mountaineering along the way.

The Festival's 'outreach programme' began in 1986, spreading the word from the Canadian Rockies and grew into the World Tour which features the best from some 300 films entered in the festival. The UK dates and venues are:

• 29 January        Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow
• 3 & 4 February    Union Chapel, Islington, London
• 6 February        Theatre By The Lake, Keswick
• 11 February        Komedia Club, Brighton
• 13 February        Dancehouse Theatre, Manchester
• 18 & 21 February    Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds
• 20 February        Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan   

Looks great and the organisers say the evenings are much more than a film night  -  it is a social evening where outdoor adventure lovers of all kinds can come together, have a drink, enjoy a selection of inspiring short films, and also have a chance to win some great prizes too (including a trip for two to Mont Blanc with World Expeditions).
