Outside the outdoor world, Simon Yates is best known as the
climber who cut through Joe Simpson's rope in Touching The Void, but
since that epic trip to Peru, he's carved his own niche as a leading
climber, adventure writer and speaker.
He's going to be giving four lectures this month under the the
title 'Beyond The Void - Life after Touching the Void'. That's
something of a departure for Yates who has previously made light of
his involvment in Simpson's dramatic story.
He was, obviously, involved in the filming of the award-winning
film and, reportedly, found the return to Peru quite difficult to
deal with so it should make for an interesting evening. We've seen
Yates lecture before and he's an engaging and interesting speaker
who's been involved in some amazing trips.
Dates are 16 November, Southampton; 21 November, London; 23
November, Harrogate and 28 November, Oxford. Tickets are £10 and
you can order by calling 0800 0744 135.
