Blanket Ban Lifted In Powys

Areas of the Beacons and Black Mountains opened up at the weekend, though some restrictions remain in place plus there's a new web site to check the details

Substantial parts of Powys, including upland areas in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountain areas, were re-opened over the weekend.

To coincide with the re-opening, Powys County Council has 'a new interactive mapping site' accessible from these pages . In common with other areas previously subject to a blanket ban, there are still restrictions within 3km of existing outbreaks of foot and mouth and on farmland of former infected premises.

There are still substantial closures - denote by red areas on the maps - but it's a step forward. There's also a list of local tourist information office contact numbers if you want to check the situation in a particular local area with people on the ground.

For more access links and information, see our regular foot and mouth update.
