BMC Climbing Wall Comp Dates

The BMC has announced venues and dates for its new Leading Ladder competition taking place over this winter as well as revealing that at least six new indoor climbing walls are due to open in the UK over the next few months.

We told you about the Lead Ladder set-up a few months back, but the idea is that it's a self-monitored, nationwide contest that's going to take place at a range of climbing walls right across the country.

You can just roll up, pay up and tackle the competition routes at any time during the designated period for that wall. The winners will be invited to a grand final event.

Dates and venues are as follows:

1st October to 14th October. Dynamic Rock, Swansea

8th October to 21st October. Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, Ratho

15th October to 28th October. Awesome Walls, Liverpool

22nd October to 4th November. Westway, London

29th October to 11th November. The Foundry, Sheffield

5th November to 18th November, Lakeland Climbing Centre, Kendal

12th November to 25th November. Sunderland Wall

19th November to 2nd December. Bristol Climbing Centre

26th November to 9th December. The Leeds Wall

Six Climbing Walls Coming Soon

Apparently there are six new indoor climbing walls due to open over the next few months - full details at www.thebmc.co.uk - but locations include Durham, where the new Durham Climbing Centre will have the 'highest bouldering in the world' it says here...

There's also a long overdue new climbing wall for Birmingham, another offering in Bristol, a wall in Stockport plus one just open in Luton. There's also news of an indoor boarding and skiing venture in Manchester near the Trafford Centre which will also incorporate a climbing wall.
