UK tour starts now for BMC's Hill Walking Essentials 2008 lectures.
The BMC's wandering Hill Walking Essentials 2008 lecture
series will be meandering across the country starting this week and
continuing into February.
Venues for the tour include Shrewsbury, Bristol, Brecon,
Barnstaple, Nottingham and Huddersfield and the talks are aimed at
anyone who enjoys getting into the outdoors, novice or seasoned hill
veteran alike.
The lectures cover the essential skills and knowledge you need to
operate safely and enjoy walking in the British hills, mountains and
beyond and include navigation, weather, route finding, scrambling,
use of GPS and an overview of different walking areas.
The speaker will be Helen Barnard of the Mountain Training Trust.
Helen's a full-time instructor and also Duke of Edinburgh's Award
coordinator for Plas y Brenin. She's a highly experienced walker and
mountaineer with a passion for high altitude trekking.

All talks start at 19:30 and finish at approximately 21:30.
