If it’s autumn then it must be time for the British Mountaineering Council Winter Lecture Series. Tickets went on sale today and in return for your cash, you can refresh your memory of navigation, avalanche hazards, clothing, and much more, ready for the winter.
This year’s speakers are both old hands – mountain guides Dave Hollinger and Rob Jarvis – so they should have plenty of top tips at the ready.
We didn’t make it to last year’s lectures, but from previous years we remember some inspiring photos of Scotland in its most crisp and beautiful moods. We also picked up some good common sense advice – which, as we all know, isn’t really all that common. And there were even some goodies up for grabs in the prize draw, although of course we can’t guarantee anything this year.
But whatever the format, you can count on being that bit better prepared for perfect powder or freezing fog in the Highlands – whichever they throw at you.
Here are the dates:
- Birmingham: 17th November
- Nottingham: 18th November
- Sheffield: 19th November
- Cardiff: 24th November
- Reading: 25th November
- Norwich: 26th November
Tickets cost £5 for members, £7 for non-members, and £3.50 for advanced group bookings of at least ten people.
