A British mountain walker survived six days in freezing temperatures with a broken hip in Spain's Picos de Europa mountains reports the Independent.

Paul Beck, 33, reportedly slipped on ice injuring his hip then spent the next six days sheltering on a tiny ledge in temperatures as low as -10 C. At one point he was reduced to drinking his own urine in his desperation to survive.

Although the cold had killed his battery rendering his mobile phone useless, Beck was rescued by helicopter after his mother reported him missing.
