According to the BBC, a British band is claiming to have set a world record by playing a gig at the highest altitude ever, Kalar Patar, the classic viewpoint for trekkers looking out towards Everest.

The Hidden - whoever they are - apparently performed at 5545 metres in front of approximately 100 mountaineers and trekkers to raise money for child victims of the domestic maoist insurgency in Nepal. The gig lasted 40 minutes says the Beeb.

The Everest gig was organised by the British charity Nepal Balabalika Trust (Trust for Nepalese Children). Full story at the BBC entertainment site.
