British Bouldering Champs At Cliffhanger

Sheffield outdoor festival hosts premier bouldering event this coming weekend.

Just a quick reminder that Cliffhanger, the Sheffield outdoor festival, is happening this coming weekend 12-13 July, 2008 and one of the main attractions will be the British Bouldering Championships featuring some of the UK's top climbers.

It's the second year in succession that the BMC has held the event at Cliffhanger and they're anticipating a weekend of 'gripping action' -groan - with the championships also forming part of the selection process for the 2009 British Bouldering Team which competes at international events.

Heading the field will be defending champions Gaz Parry from Bury and local girl, Katie Whitttaker - above, image courtesy of the BMC - from just up the road in Edale, but you can bet they'll be up against some stiff competition.

All the action will take place in a big, bouldering marquee with the junior event on Saturday 12 July and the seniors on Sunday 13 July. If you suddenly develop tendons of steel and forearms made from knotted rope, you can roll up and enter on the day. Application form at www.thebmc.co.uk/bbc.
