A British mountaineer is feared missing in Pakistan after
reportedly setting out to solo a 6,000-metre peak.
Reports say that Ben Cheek, 28, from Manchester set off to climb
the mountain ix days ago but failed to return four days later as
scheduled. Other climbers in the Anglo-Canadian group, says one
report, advised him against the attempt saying that conditions were
'too bad'.The expedition had failed to climb its main objective,
Distaghil Sar, a 7,620m mountain in the same range.
Apparently a helicopter search of the area has had to be postponed
because of the poor conditions, but reports suggest plans are
underway to mount a rescue attempt as soon as the weather allows.
