It was a busy weekend for Edale
Mountain Rescue Team with three casualties
being air-lifted to safety in separate incidents.
In the first one on Saturday, a walker from Leicester suffered an
asthma attack on Kinder Scout. She was met by a team member and the
team doctor as she descended from the hill and as her condition
deteriorated seriously, an RAF Sea King helicopter was called in to
evacuate her - below - to hospital in Sheffield since the location was
too difficult for an Air Ambulance to land.
Simultaneously, the team was called out to help a walker with a broken
ankle at Upper Tor with the patient being evacuated by air ambulance.
Finally on Sunday, the team was in action again twith a 15 year-old-boy
who was reported to be having an epileptic fit on the Jacobs Ladder
path. The casulaty was lifted off by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance while
the teams were deploying.
