Buxton Adventure Festival will take place 20th-21st October 2012

As one of the judges and presenters at the recent Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, it was really gratifying to see so many people enjoying this year’s event. Ticket sales were up by 45% and an extra showing had to be arranged of the Grand Prize Winner, Unbreakable.

I’m super excited then that the organiser of ShAFF, Matt Heason of Heason Events, is bringing a two day Adventure Festival to “my side” of the Peak. It might not be quite the climbing hotbed of Sheffield but we’ve got a few crags and for biking, road and mountain, and running, I reckon we’ve got the edge and the number of enthusiasts to make it a massive success and an annual event.

Encouraged by the phenomenal growth of the annual Sheffield Adventure Film Festival and the popularity of lecture nights he puts on at Buxton Opera House given by the likes of the world’s greatest living explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and Britain’s top climbing talent, Leo Houlding, Matt wanted to combine the magic of both speakers and films into one exhilarating weekend.

The concept behind BAF is to marry the excitement of live lectures with the magic of big screen cinema.

The event will take place on the 20th-21st October 2012. For more details and to sign up for the newsletter go to www.buxtonadventurefestival.co.uk
