One for the diary with the news that Sheffield's
Cliffhanger event is back for 2008 with dates being 12-13
July.
Last year's inaugural Cliffhanger suffered from wet conditions but
was still reasonably successful, this year it's changed venue to
Sheffield's Millhouses Park which has a boating lake, it's own river,
skate ramps and has better transport links.
So what's on? Well, if it's outdoors, there's a good chance it's
going to be there. The British Bouldering Championships., a caving
obstacle course, come and try it climbing walls, loads of
demonstrations from mountain rescue to parkour via mountain biking
and kit surfing, a free lecture and film marquee and a 'massive
bargain area', it says here.
There's more too including food, music, a CAMRA-run beer festival
- oh yes - kayaking, erm, free iron smelting recreations, north
shore-style mountain biking anyway, you get the idea. Loads to do,
lots of free things. To whet your appetite, here's some footage from
last yea's Cliffhanger :-)
You can find more details at www.cliff-hanger.co.uk
where you can a check out lists of exhibitors, check transport links
and so on.
