Some 30 tonnes of it plus boarders and skiiers are the latest attraction at the Sheffield outdoors festival.

If the tropical heat of Sheffield in July all gets a bit much for
you, we've got some good news - this year's Cliffhanger event
is going to include no less than 30 tonnes of snow courtesy of
the snowsports centre at Xscape in Castleford.
It sounds improbable, but organisers Heason Events tell us that
there's going to be a real snow slope complete with freestyle rail
lines plus top professional snowboarders and skiiers performing
gravity-defying tricks.
That's on top of all the other attractions including the
British Bouldering Championships, an orient style UltraSprint
orienteering competition and open event, Mountain Bike
trials displays by Ben Slinger, Scuba Diving instruction,
an on-site North-Shore Mountain Bike course, an open Skateboarding
contest, come-and-try-it climbing walls and assault courses,
kayaking, caving, angling, a heap of demonstrations, and loads of
outdoor bargains (Decathlon, Alpkit, planetFear, Go Outdoors, CragX
and loads more).
Should be a great family outdoors event that's actually happening
outdoors :-) If you need more convincing, check out the video of last
year's event...
The event happens on July 12 and 13 at Millhouses Park in
Sheffield and once you've paid the £5 to get in, pretty
much everything else is free. You can find full details including a
downloadable programme at www.cliff-hanger.co.uk

Lets hope it's better than last year's washout got there last year in torrential rain, only a fraction of the activities were still on due to the weather, and they still wanted to carge full whack for admission. So i got back in the car and went and bought some new gear wit the cash i had put aside for cliffhanger
