Climber Rescued After Lochnagar Fall

A climber has been helicoptered to hospital in Aberdeen after falling approximately 60 feet from a route on Lochnagar in the Scottish highlands

A climber who fell around 60 feet on Lochnagar yesterday was taken to hospital by helicopter after rescue teams battled through 'atrocious conditions' to reach him.

The man was reportedly climbing on the 'Brown Face' of the mountain when he fell from a gully suffering head injuries. Rescue teams were hampered by soft snow lying over boulder fields.

Mario Di Maio, Aberdeen Mountain Rescue team leader is quoted as saying: "The problem is the snow is soft and not hard which makes for treacherous walking conditions and you could fall into holes".
