Well, Ananova and the Daily Record and Cambridge Today all say 600 feet, plus if you know the area, it's a lot more likely that he fell / slid nearer 600 feet if he came off from the top of the Goat Track. It'd be more of a slide / tumble than a vertical drop from there btw, the ground below it's probably grade one ish.
So, I submit that the balance of probability is that we are right and the BBC is wrong. 200 feet, after all, is only a bit over a rope length. I reckon one of the subs at the BBC got feet and metres all mixed up together.
I rest my case, though they may be right and we could be wrong.
