The National Park Countryside
Volunteering service is giving you the chance to learn new skills and find out about year-round volunteering in the Peak Park.
It's your chance to put something back into the Peak District at a
Countryside Volunteering taster day in the Peak District
National Park on Sunday 25 June.
You'll be able to try activities like dry-stone walling, bird-box
making or path restoration thanks to the National Park Countryside
Volunteering service on the beautiful North Lees Estate, near
Hathersage.
Not only can you learn some new skills, but you'll also learn
about conservation work on the estate and if you like it, you can
always get involved on an ongoing basis.
Countryside Volunteering goes on in the National Park all year
round - participants go out with supervisors, building walls,
steps and bridges, making bird and bat-boxes, installing gates and
fences, clearing undergrowth and maintaining footpaths.
The Countryside Volunteering Day is part of BBC Radio Derby's Day
in the Forest. The base for the day is Hollin Bank car park at
Stanage (from Hathersage, going towards Hope, take the right fork
immediately after the George Hotel, then right up Coggers Lane, right
again past North Lees Hall, and left at the top).
The team will be taking out volunteers from 11am onwards -
please wear sturdy shoes, appropriate clothes and bring refreshments.
You can turn up on the day, but bookings would be appreciated -
contact BBC Radio Derby's CSV Action Desk, 01332 370707, or
