Outdoors and adventure travel clothing brand Craghoppers
has launched a blog on its web site to get closer to its
customers.
The
idea is that visitors to the web site will be able to kick back in
their Kiwi pants and share travel stories, favourite walks and tips
on outdoor and travel gear with other Craghoppers users.
Crag's MD Jim McNamara - pictured right - says: "We have always enjoyed a great
relationship with our customers and often receive letters and phone
calls about our products from them.
"We get a lot of feedback on all sorts of things, from the
technical aspects of certain fabrics to the positioning of pockets on
our trousers so the blog seemed a natural progression for us.
"We have always been a leader and as blogging grows, with more
than 60 million blogs worldwide, we wanted to get involved and get
some really good conversations going on our website," he said.
The blog is live on the Craghoppers web site right now at
www.craghoppers.com
with the first post discussing the hot topic of 'going green' - the
company is now 'carbon neutral'.
To be honest, we're not sure that a 'blog' is the best way
forwards here. It's hard for brands to 'build communities' and the
problem with the format as it is, is that there's no way we can see
to start your own discussion or ask questions. You seem to be limited
to commenting on the initial topic.
'Blogs' may be hot news at the moment, but in this case, we can't
help wondering if a simple forum might not have worked better?

Thanks for the feedback, it is great to hear people's views whether good or bad. The problem of only being able to post comments on existing articles is one we are looking at and are hoping to rectify as soon as possible. We want to share travel tips and stories on any issues, not just articles posted by Craghoppers so watch this space and get blogging. Posted by Diane Inglis, PR Manager, Craghoppers.
