Something for the weekend? Ingleborough has just sprouted a brightly coloured, rubber structure known as a 'luminarium' for one weekend only.

A classic Friday story, with the news that the Yorkshire Dales now
has a huge multi-coloured inflatable sculpture pegged to the side of
Ingleborough...
A 40 metres x 15 metres multi-coloured maze of rubbery tunnels is,
apparently, intended to mimic the area's network of potholes, so it
shouldn't be long before a platoon of Mexican soldiers become
accidentally trapped in one and have to be rescued in the six-week
operation.
The structure known as a 'luminarium' it says here, was designed
by one Alan Parkinson. Visitors can get inside and crawl through the
sun-lit tunnels by paying a small fee which will go to help improve
local community facilities and is all part of this weekend's Clapham
festival.
"The landscape around Clapham is particularly beautiful" says
Parkinson. "And never before have we put a structure in such a remote
rural location. Logistically, it will be a bit of a challenge but the
juxtaposition should be quite startling."
So if you spot a huge plasticcy thing near Ingleborough, that's
what it is and no, it's not going to stay there. Beats potholing we
reckon...
