Dead Cows Saved From Dynamiting

... now Austrian farmers must find an udder solution

If you caught our earlier story about Austrian farmers dynamiting dead cows in Sound of Music country, you'll be relieved to learn that Vorarlberg, the province concerned, is apparently going to outlaw the practice.

The whole affair stems from the difficulty of removing defunct cattle from ravines and stream beds high up in the mountains. When the Austrian army started charging farmers a reported 200 quid to chopper the bodies out, some farmers took explosive action and took to blowing their cow cadavers to pieces.

Nowt wrong with that we reckon, but it makes a heck of a mess and once a local politician stumbled - literally - across the remains of one such redistribution, the game was up. Not suitable for tourists they reckon, so the farmers'll have to find an udder solution (sorry).

Dunno about that, it's all a bit close to home... Someone sell those farmers some Napalm.
