A quick heads-up for anyone north of the border - avoid the blizzards and see some great films plus personal experiences by some top climbers, you know it makes sense...
Just
a quick reminder for OUTDOORSmagic members of a Scottish persuasion,
that this weekend - 25-27 November - is the Dundee Mountain Film
Festival.
Let's face it, with arctic winds sweeping in across the hills and
dumping gawd knows what on ya, the prospect of a weekend watching a
mix of mountain movies and personal appearances by some of the
world's leading climbers is even more attractive.
Highlights include merican Dave Hahn, five times Everest
summiteer, and Mallory and Irvine investigator, updating Scotland
with the latest information on the ost-on-Everest heroes, fresh from
his latest expedition to the mountain this year.
Closer to home, Britain's Mick Fowler, past-winner of
mountaineering's coveted Piolet d'Or award for his ascent of the
north face of Siguniang, presents his exploration of new routes on
the high peaks from around the world, in conditions ranging from
Scottish winter to sun-baked rock and the high Himalaya.
You can also catch US-based Brit' Kevin Thaw talking about his
recent trips and internationally-acclaimed British photographer and
writer Ian Evans presents his finest work - from the Himalayas
through to Scotland.
Loads more too, with the pick of the The Banff Mountain Film
Festival World Tour, and a selection of action films submitted by
private producers. A special feature is a documentary about the life
of the Antarctic explorer Tom Crean, whose heroic exploits featured
in the recent TV series on Shackleton. Tom served for over two years
on the RRS Discovery, a great link with the City of Dundee.
