Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival Coming Soon
Antarctic winters, crazy kayaking, and hardcore soloing - coming to a screen near you.

This is a quick heads up that you’ve got just over two weeks left to book your bed – or your tent pitch – in Edinburgh, for this year’s Mountain Film Festival.
Past winners of the ‘Best Film’ award include E11 and Echo Wall, both from Dave MacLeod, so standards should be high if that’s anything to go by.
The line up this year takes you to all four corners of the planet – and not necessarily at the right times of year. Fancy a winter in Antarctic? The good news is that you can catch it on screen at the festival before you make up your mind:-)
Alternatively you could watch an attempt at the longest ever ski descent in Alaska, a kayaker dropping off a one hundred foot waterfall, and plenty of BASE jumping, solo-ing, and generally bonkers action, all from your comfy chair. See the full A-Z of films here. Or if you want more of a taster, there’s also a trailer to raise your heartrate and get you dreaming – or not, depending on the film.
But the festival isn’t all about sitting in a cinema. There’s also the chance to get your paws grubby and your pulse beating, if you’re new to outdoor sports, with climbing and kayaking taster sessions. Perhaps some of the hardened rock lovers – and we don’t mean the music - could take to the river for an afternoon for a different angle on adventure? And of course there’s the compulsory festival party too.
And more … this year’s line-up of speakers include Dave MacLeod of E11 fame, and several other well-known names, not to mention the mountain photography exhibition exhibition.
So, keep Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th October free if you live anywhere in the vicinity. Tickets cost £45 for the weekend, and you can also buy them for individual sessions, ranging from £5 to £10, depending on what time you have to get out of bed to get there:-) Call Tiso on 0141 552 6642 to book.
It looks like it should be a top weekend.
