It'll cost you a whopping £1350 to enter the main four-day Adidas TERREX Adventure Race in the Lakes this August, but if you want a more affordable taste of the action, you can enter the Prologue for free.
Taking place around Keswick on the evening of Thursday 26 August, the prologue is a 'bite-sized' mini adventure race open to teams of four with no entry fee and even prizes if you kick butt.
You don't need much in the way of kit to take part, just a compass, some running shoes, your navigation skills and a willingness to get wet along the way. You'll have the chance to compete against some of the world's top race teams, but don't fret, the emphasis is going to be on having fun, it says here. You may even find yourself on TV, with Channel 4 on hand making a 30-minute film which follows the four-day main event across Cumbria.
Bruce Duncan – Race Planner says 'The main race is a epic journey across the wild and rugged parts of the Lake District, the Prologue gives people a chance to sample the challenges and skills needed for the main race, in a short bite-sized, hour-long race around Keswick. Keswick has everything needed for a wee adventure, and we hope to show everyone taking part how fun it can be.'
The main adidas TERREX Adventure Race is a 400km beast taking in every corner of the Lake District and including running, mountain biking and paddling legs along with 'a few hidden surprises'. The race is open to competitors with all levels of experience, with shorter courses for novices.
