Mountain Film Festival's 'Extreme Film School' is back for
2006 giving you the opportunity to make your own extreme film and,
possibly, win a prize.
This year's Film School is slightly different from previous
versions in that it all happens within a 48-hour film marathon
window, during which you have to produce a two-minute film. There
will, it says here, 'be expert support, instruction and mentoring
during the marathon - particularly while editing'.
The event starts at 9 am on Thursday 17 th November with all day
seminars on film making, the actual 48 hour marathon starts at 6 pm
on Thursday and finishes at 6 pm on Saturday 19 th November. The
films will be screened on Saturday evening, then judged and winners
awarded at the main Festival Prize ceremony on Sunday at 5 pm.
You don't need any film-making experience to take part, but there
are two deadlines to be aware of:
If you already have your own film-making equipment, all you need
do is enter by 28 October. If you need to to borrow equipment such as
cameras - always useful - and / or editing kit then you need to apply
by 30 Septmember. The amount of equipment is limited and who receives
it will be based on the details submitted in the application.
Entry is open to all, amateur or professional alike, and costs
£60. For that you get entry into either of two all-day
film-making seminars on the Thursday plus a Sunday all-day film
ticket for the main Kendal Mountain Film Festival, which can't be
good.
