Extreme Ironists In London Marathon

A pair of extreme ironing enthusiasts have a pressing appointment with a singlet and shorts this Sunday and it's all in a good cause.

Extreme Ironing, the mildly amusing joke that turned into a meeja monster's still out there, but this time in a good cause.

This Sunday Ironman-M and Crease Lightnin', who are both erm, protagonists of the sport, are taking part in the London Marathon in full ironing gear. You'll be able to spot them from the ironing boards strapped to their backs...

The good news is that they're going to be raising money for charity, specifically for SPARKS and Cancer Research UK. Both good causes, if you'd like to support either of them, click here and follow the relevant link on the page. There's another story about the pair here as well.

Meanwhile, in a rather frightening twist, Steam, who started the whole thing off, tells us that he's off to the States to introduce our Transatlantic buddies to the joys of al fresco pressing. Clearly no-one's ever told him that the Americans don't understand irony :-)

I'll get my newly pressed coat.
