A quick heads up for anyone contemplating some serious Arctic expeditioning - Nordic Life, the company that imports a selection of Scandinavian brands including Brynje and Bergans of Norway are offering discounted Arctic training courses that will prepare you to cope with serious sub-zero conditions north of the Arctic Circle.
The courses are run by a specialist training company called Arctic Training and Expeditions (ATE) and take place in the Norwegian mountains in full winter conditions. They include two nights in a lodge followed by two nights practical expoeditioning spent under canvas in winter conditions and aim to teach you everything you need for arctic expeditioning.
That includes everything from the mentality you need to thrive, through practical skills like using pulks, sleds, skis adn poles, boots, bindings and navigating in the polar regions through to survival necessities like what to wear and eat plus how to sleep well.
Specialist instruction like this doesn't come cheap and the course would normally set you back a cool £1600, but for Nordic Life customers, there's a whopping 20% discount to £1280 not including flights to Trondheim. Specialist stuff for sure, but it looks like an amazing experience that could give you skills which open up all sorts of opportunities in the future.
More about the courses themselves on the ATE website at arctic-training.com and if you're interested in knowing more or booking a place, drop a line to Nordic Life's Rhodri Lewis. You can find the Nordic Life website at www.nordiclife.co.uk.
