Mountain film festival season is well and truly underway with a
reminder that the 2008 Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is on
and runs over the coming weekend, with the organisers gleefully
contemplating a pretty dire weather forecast.

Sheffield this weekend? Not unlike Patagonia (from PSYCHE)
There's plenty going on at ShAFF with flms showing in themed
blocks from 11 am on Saturday morning - though don't forget the
Friday evening programme too - through to Sunday afternoon and
covering everything from mountaineering through to a special
screening aimed at kids.
Another Saturday night highlight will be a live interview with Joe
Simpson conducted by Gordon Stainforth and filmed by Alastair Lee.
All good stuff, you can find comprehensive details and online booking
at
www.shaff.co.uk.
The Welsh Edge
Meanwhile the 4th Llanberis Mountain Film Festival is
waiting in the wings. poised to hit the ground running on the weekend
of 7-9 March 2008 - sorry about the mixed metaphors.
For £25 you can buy a weekend ticket that'll give you entry
to a wide-ranging programme of films including some appropriately
Welsh-themed ones along with some classic archive material, Best of
Kendal films and world premieres, no less.
Also unique to the weekend is Slate of the Art., an audio visual
presentation from the 1980s slate climbing boom featuring - and we
quote - 'many first ascents, bad hair cuts and lycra'. Think Ashes to
Ashes for climbers...
It really does look like a superb programme and the vibe at
Llanberis is always good. You can find full details at www.llamff.co.uk.
