It's been a while coming, but we've finally had our first OUTDOORSmagic wedding - well, the first one we know about anyway. We'd like to congratulate Conan and Lindsay Harrod and wish them all the best for the future and - it doesn't get much more outdoors than this - we'd also like to wish Conan all the best for his second crack at Everest this April.

The happy couple met through the OUTDOORSmagic forum and haven't looked back since. And of course, an OUTDOORSmagic wedding wouldn't be complete without an OUTDOORSmagic meet report, so over to OMer Marcus Crompton for a firsthand account of a wedding where the tables at the reception were named for Lakeland fells :-)

'Meant For Each Other...'

My wife Paula and I were honoured to be invited to Tonbridge Baptist Church last Saturday, 26 March, to Conan and Lindsay's wedding. As some of you might know, the two of them met last year when Conan replied to Lindsay's message on the OM forum when she was looking for a guide for a trip to the Black Cuillin - Munros she badly needed to ttick off to take her one step nearer to completion.

Not long afterwards, they went on their first date - the 45 mile one-day walk over the English 3000s in the Lake District. Paula told me that day that it was pretty obvious that they were meant for each other, even though it was the first time we'd met them.

So, fast forward to last weekend - just a week before Conan leaves for his second attempt on what he calls "the big hill" - Everest. There was a wonderful service, with lots of references to their passions for mountains, running, and each other of course!

If anyone needed any more proof of their dedication to the great outdoors, it was there at the reception, with all of the guests seated at tables named after Lakeland fells - you shouldn't need to ask what the top table was called - Scafell Pike of course. We had a good view from our perch on Great Gable, and just past Helvellyn, we could see the fantastic cake with Conan and Lindsay-inspired decorations.

The day peaked in an energetic and chaotic ceilidh dance - but I'm glad to say they both emerged unscathed - Lindsay had taken the precaution of changing into trainers to avoid a fall, and carefully belayed Conan during some of the more complicated moves.

Somehow, they've found time to squeeze in a honeymoon before Conan leaves for the Himalaya next weekend. His trip is completely self-financed, but he is aiming to raise lots of money for Christies Against Cancer. If you would like to make a donation you can do so online at www.justgiving.com/everest
