Good news for the Fix
the Fells project which will be presented with a sizeable cheque by
guidebook author Mark
Richards and his publisher Cicerone Press on
Saturday.
 Mark has
pledged 10 pence from the price of every copy of his best-selling
‘Great Mountain Days in the Lake District’ - right
- to Fix the Fells and with almost 6,000 copies being sold in
its first year of publication, the charity is set to receive a cheque
for £595.70.
The money will be presented at the 75th birthday celebrations for
Friends of the Lake District Fitz Park in Keswick, at 3pm this Saturday
20 June. Mark and Cicerone have also kindly donated a couple of books
that will be prizes at the event.
Mark says “My love of the Lakeland fells means I felt moved
to give a proportion of the royalties I receive to the Fix the Fells
project through The Tourism & Conservation Partnership. My
publisher Cicerone Press similarly gives a percentage of their profits
to the same cause. We hope we will inspire readers of my guides to make
a small donation to toward caring for a landscape we all dearly love
and enjoy.”
Text Donations To Fix The
Fells
And just to make donations easier, from this Friday 19 June, you'll be
able to donate via mobile phone and help to keep Lakeland footpaths in
shape.
All you have to do is text FIX
to 81400
and almost £1 will go to Fix the Fells. Even better, the
Heritage Lottery Fund will treble the donation to almost £3,
so it's a trebly good way to make a donation.
