It looks like good news on the foot and mouth front as preliminary test results on a pig from a slaughterhouse in Leicestershire proved to be negative. The results have now been confirmed (Monday) and the pig is definitely negative. Restrictions around the slaughterhouse have been lifted.

The pig, a native of North Yorkshire, was slaughtered on Thursday after blisters were spotted on its body and sampes sent to Pirbright in Surrey for testing.

Listening to the news on the way home seems that Foot & Mouth as raised its ugly head again.

The suspected pig's already been put down, lets hope its another false alarm.

Either way surely the govt can't make as much mess of it as they did last year.

I certainly don't think we'll be accepting any restrictions as passively as we did last time.

Too right Lloyd.

Where was the latest FMD "outbreak" then? I haven't heard anything about it.

'suspected case' was discovered at a slaughterhouse in Leicestershire though I believe the said pig came from somewhere in North Yorks.
