A quick heads up for northern-based readers, the 2009 Fort William Mountain Festival is now on and has been since 6 March and it runs through until Saturday 14 March.

There's still loads to see and do with the Best of Banff World Tour evening, showcasing the best of the films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival taking place on Friday 13 March.

Then on Thursday 12 March, Dave Macleod is set to give his 'Don't Die' talk when he explains his personal approach to the massively hard routes he attempts.

And that's just the start, there are also practical festival workshops covering everything from mountain skills including avalanche awareness, through to a percussion workshop. Or get a discount on an introduction to ice or rock climbing at the Ice Factor just up the road in Kinlochleven.
