The Countryside Agency has gone all innuendo-ous - is that a word?
- with its new leaflet, 'Four Great Ways To Get High on the Pennines'
- 'get high', geddit?
The idea is to 'inspire and inform' potential visitors about the
four Pennine long distance routes aimed at walkers, cyclists,
mountain bikers and horse riders including the new Pennine Bridleway,
the southern section of which is due to open at the end of May.
The leaflet includes details of each route's start and finish
points, how long it takes to complete, difficulty, logistics and
transport information. There's also a list of companies offering
baggage transfer and accommodation as well as complete holiday
packages.
The four trails, if you were wondering, are the original 268-mile
Pennine Way, the Pennine Cycleway, whcih runs from Derby to Berwick
on Tweed, the Trans Pennine coast to coast trail from Southport to
Hornsea and the new Pennine Bridleway, which will, when complete, be
the country's longest route for mountain bikers and horse riders.
Interested in getting a copy? It'll be in Tourist Information
Centres and YHAs or simply download it here
in PDF form. Of course the information's also available in web form
at the National
Trails web site.
There's also a competition to win a Harvey's Map - since no-one
appears to have won the last one, we reckon there's a shortage of
entries, so what are you waiting for?
