Ending our first week of outdoorsy
Christmas gift suggestions with a new take on an old
favourite, a Merino Wool
Buff no less.
Buffs are one of those things that don't seem to make much sense until
you actually use one when you realise just how handy and versatile a
simple tube of technical fabric can be. Need a hat, just transform it
into a beanie. Scarf? Slip it over your neck and it's done. Face
getting ravaged by wind and spindrift? No problem, your Buff becomes a
balaclava in seconds.
Conventional Buffs are made from a closely woven microfibre, but for
this winter, Buff introduced a merino wool version, same concept, but
slightly longer and made from 100 per-cent merino.
The fibre has natural anti-pong properties, insulates well, holds water
away from the skin and feels lovely. The slightly longer dimensions
mean it copes well with simultaneous neck and head protection, unless
you're a giraffe of course...
The Wool Buff retails for £21
and is available in a selection of plain colours. If
you're after something funkier, check out the massive choice of normal
Buff designs. A particular fave here is the National
Geographic Temple Buff with its classic prayer
flag design.
