Latest in our series of festive
present suggestions is that old staple, the gift of
fleece, in this case the Montane
Bear Jacket, a luxuriously fluffy but functional bundle of
furry warmth.
The Bear Jacket is a simple enough affair with two handwarmer pockets,
a main zip, sleeves with Lycra cuffs and so on, but where it scores is
in its use of Polartec's Thermal Pro fleece. Technically it's 'high
void', but to you and me, it's simply fluffy and rather lovely.
The fluffy, furry texture of the fleece means that while it's not very
windproof, it can trap more air for greater insulation values, but
still stay very light and packable making it great portable insulation.
Put a shell over it for active winter use and stay nicely warm or wear
it on its own in still conditions or just simply look cool over a pint
at the end of a day on the hill. It's far from the only Thermal Pro
fleece out there - plenty of options to choose from - but it's a nice
one.
Available in black or red, weight around 450 grammes and price
£85. More information at www.montane.co.uk
