Coming soon from people who make books is The Girl's Guide To Action Sports,
a guide to five mostly male-dominated adventure sports aimed, it says
here, specifically at
women.
 The
book, which is due
out in March, covers five outdoors sports - adventure racing, climbing,
mountain biking, snowboarding and surfing - and aims to inspire women
to get beyond the slightly intimidating surface of the sport.
The book includes a brief history of each sport, an idea of
mind, body and soul benefits and a breakdown of essential
gear. There's a step-by-step guide to the basic techniques,
sport-specific fitness and nutrition advice and top tips for taking the
sport further and going abroad with it.
Physically it's a handy handbag size and features hand-drawn
illustrations by Eric Sharp. The author is Jessica Eveleigh, a health
and fitness journalist who is a keen mountain biker, runner and surfer
as well as a regular adventure racer.
Amen to all that is what we say. The book isn't out until March when it
will cost £14.99 and is published by A&C Black. More
information at www.acblack.com
where you can arrange an e-mail notification of publication.

Chapter 12 is particularly good: "How To Ensure You Get Home In Time To Make Your Man's Dinner".
